SAT
SAT is an entrance for selecting candidates who want to pursue undergraduate courses in the United States. It provides colleges and universities with one common data point that can be used to make admission decisions by comparing all applicants.
The SAT will measure students’ high school reading, writing and math skills.
At PDLC we understand student’s capabilities and identify their high calibre along with their fragility.
We set plans, make goals and our team will put into execution for what is best to mentor students as per the international requirement.
Brief rundown of SAT’s basic structure:
Section | Time | No. of questions |
Reading | 65 min | 52 |
Writing and Language | 35 min | 44 |
Math | 80 min | 58 |
Scoring on the SATs
SAT is scored out of 1600 and there are sub scores and cross section scores to be considered. Essay is optional which is measured on reading, analysis and writing
ACT
ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It is an alternative to SAT and is regarded easier than the SAT. All colleges and universities that offer 4 year undergraduate courses accept ACT scores.
The ACT evaluates the Mathematical, Critical Reading, English and Scientific Reasoning skills of a student.
The essential differences between the ACT and the SAT are that the ACT includes a Scientific Reasoning section, and the Essay writing section is optional. While the questions are often easier, the challenge lies in answering a greater number of questions in a shorter period of time.
The scaled scores from 1 to 36 are converted from your raw scores on each of the subject areas. Your raw score is simply the total number of questions you answer correctly in each section. There is no point deduction for wrong answers on the ACT.
ACT rundown structure:
Test | Format | ||
English | 75 questions | 45 minutes | Measures standard written English and rhetorical skills.
|
Mathematics | 60 questions | 60 minutes | Measures mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12.
|
Reading | 40 questions | 35 minutes | Measures reading comprehension |
Science | 40 questions | 35 minutes | Measures interpretation, analysis, evaluation and reasoning required in natural science |
Optional Writing Test | 1 prompt with 3 perspectives | 45 minutes | Measures writing skills and argumentative writing |
